Following the succes of the mass-produced Hala ‘Pinocchio’ light in the early fifties, Artimeta came up with this small table ( or wall ) light called ‘Bambi’. It is even more minimal and was produced for a short time so nowadays quite hard to find.
The adjustable metal stand holds a black metal shade which is decorated with a die cut pattern that evokes a typical mid-fifties atmosphere.
This light is documented in the 1960 Artimeta catalogue. Both lights are in good condition, electrical parts have been tested.
After the second world war, Artimeta was one of the Dutch companies which became succesful producing small metal furniture and lighting designs in a new, innovative European style. Besides the particular collaboration with Mathieu Matégot the origin for using slender shapes and wire structures for their designs can be found in the work of French and Italian designers.
