German lighting company Cosack became succesful developing a number of subtle lighting designs. Exemplary is this very elegant articulated wall light from the early 1950ies. Thanks to the full brass swinging arm suspension the shade can be directed from the wall very easy, max. depth 113 cm. The metal shade is also adjustable in many positions. Typical 1950ies hallmarks are the organic diabolo shade with the ‘lizzard skin’ white paint. Very symbolic for early midcentury modernism.

Very good condition. All is complete incl the original part to fix the light on the wall. All electrical parts have been checked completely and wiring through the whole fixture has been replaced. Light source one E-27 bulb holder. The light has a 240v chord and plug, but its also possible to hardwire it directly into the wall.

 

 

The reputation of 1950ies European modernist lighting producers rests on their drive to engage in new materials and in the quality finish of its products. The lighting designs created by Cosack are known for its well executed organic lines and especially the fifties designs have a remarkable floral appearance, which is complemented by the use of delicate materials such as thin painted aluminium and brass.
