Famous Dutch designer Friso Kramer mainly has became popular for his work at Ahrend de Cirkel, but during the period between 1950 – 1970 he also created some designs for other furniture companies, including ’t Spectrum.
Together with other Dutch modernist furniture companies such as Artifort and Pastoe, Spectrum communicate the principles of good design to a broader public during the fifties and sixties of the 20th century. This very minimalist but powerful coat rack design ‘Nieuw Deurne’ is symbolic for the Eames-like furniture designs that inspired many European designers and companies to follow during the fifties.
A retrospective exhibition of the work of Kramer was held in the ‘Boijmans van Beuningen Museum’ Rotterdam and in the ‘Stedelijk Museum’ in Amsterdam.
