The rattan furniture industry of Noordwolde, Netherlands, started with selling home crafted braided baskets. After the second world war, during the rebuilding years, the industry focused on producing furniture, and the companies Rohe and the Gebroeders Jonkers became very succesful.
This swival armchair is a great example of one the puristic designs, develloped by designer Dirk van Sliedregt, who worked for the Gebroeders Jonkers company at the time. It has no decorative elements, and all attention is focussed on the natural appearance of the rattan structure.
Nice modest size, displays great in any ( wood ) related vintage interior. Good, solid condition, small usermarks.
This item can be taken apart and rebuild easily, so economic shipping is possible.
