At the beginning of the 20th century a new rationality began in furniture design, stimulated by the new philosophies that emerged from the Bauhaus School.
The Dutch Gispen furniture company was founded in 1916 by industrial designer Willem Hendrik Gispen (1890-1981) and mainly produced steel ( tubular ) furniture for home and office. Until the 1960ies of the 20th century the company worked with several famous Dutch designers such as Gerrit Rietveld, Wim Rietveld, Andre Cordemeyer and Christoffel Hoffmann.
Like all Gispen furniture designs this beautiful and timeless magazine holder is very well-constructed and carefully finished. It matches great with other midcentury industrial and bauhaus designs.
This attractive petrol blue color is no longer in production! Hard to find item.
