Established in 1945 by Giuseppe Ostuni, Oluce is the oldest Italian lighting design company that is still active today. In the early 1950ies the company quickly reached an international public. From the early sixties O’luce worked with Joe Colombo ( Italy, 1930-1971 ) who first created the “Acrilla” in 1962, followed by the “Spider” series in 1965. Every single piece Colombo designed is apparently quite different to another given the variety of shapes and materials he used. Nevertheless, the furniture and lighting he created was practical, comfortable and pleasing for the eye, and all of his designs seems to match together perfectly.

This floor edition of the “Spider” consists of a white Lacquered metal base, chrome-plated stem and adjustable reflector in white lacquered aluminum. The melamine joint in the arm makes it possible turn or adjust the height of the reflector in one easy move. Joe Colombo used this lamp in his own home as well, and in 1967 it won the first “Compasso d’oro” award for Oluce.

This white classic “Spider” floor lamp is now considered as a particular timeless Italian design which is as present today as it was more than 45 years ago. And it still can match with any modern home- or office interior.

Good condition, also the black plastic joint ( which is often damaged ).
