COFFEE TABLE ‘COMPASS’ DESIGN
PRODUCER: MARKO VEENDAM 1960
MEASUREMENTS: H 52, TOP 50 X 110, FRAME 93 X 47 CM
PRICE: SOLD
Very characteristic small coffee table produced in the early sixties by Marko.
After the second world war, Marko was one of the Dutch companies that became successful producing metal furniture in the innovative European style. The origin for using folded metal for the ‘compass’ or ‘pyramid’ base design can be found in the work of Prouve, Rietveld and Kramer.
The very thick glass top compliments the black frame very well.
Nice proportioned design and very symbolic for post-war Dutch modernism.
