Very elegant lighting design by Louis Kalff for Dutch lighting company Philips.
The subtle metal saucer is made of perforated sheet metal, and holds a delicate metal diffuserer with small hooks. Attractivde black and white color combination with red accents.
This ultra light pendant really stands out in dutch design and has become very rare the last few years.
This one is truely complete; though parts are missing very often, this one is as complete as it can get. This design really stands out in transparency and delicacy.

From the mid-1920s to 1960 Louis Kalff established the advertising and design Section of Philips.
The ‘ufo’- like shade of the light offered here strongly suggests this design was inspired by the ufo-craze of the 1950ies.
Kalff also designed the ‘Evoluon’ conference centre / museum of Eindhoven. This building is unique due to its futuristic sixties design, also resembling a flying saucer.
Nowadays, some Kalff lighting designs are quite hard to find, especially in a good condition, being collected all over the world now.
