Two rare metal wall lights produced by the Raak lighting company in the 1960ies. Documented and pictured in ‘Goed Wonen’ magazine page 104. Raak catalogue model nr c 1573.
The fixtures are made out of a white iron triangular shaped case holding white aluminium ‘window blinds’ slats that diffuses the lightsource. Very refined design that evokes many associations with all kind of 20th century product design.
The light shines through the openings downwards and a bit to the surroundings on the wall. The modest size and the black and off-yellow color makes this a perfect set of lights in any mix and match or vintage interior.
Fixtures are suitable for build-in-wall and wiring up to 240 volt. Wire + plug coming out possible. Each light has one normal E27 porcelain bulbholder suitable for modern LED bulbs. Both good condition, great opportunity to purchase as a pair.
The designs are clearly influenced by the cp 1 Perriand sconces and by the designs of Anvia, Hoogervorst, Sarfatti, Arteluce and Stilnovo. Dutch company RAAK Amsterdam has manufactured a large number of great lighting designs and was one of the Dutch leaders in developing progressive lighting during the fifties, sixties and seventies. The designs are often sophisticated and characteristic and they captured the spirit of these decades very well. The company’s design team worked with national and international designers ( E.J. Jelles, Frank Ligtelijn, H. Sneyders de Vogel, Ton Alberts).
