Danish designer Johannes Andersen initially worked as a cabinetmaker. He went on to work in a number of workshops before opening his own furniture workshop in the 1930s. Andersons career paralleled the 1950s growing appreciation for Skandinavian modern furniture, and he attracted international attention. Besides designing for a number of Skandinavian furniture companies, he kept working steadily for his own firm.
