Striking minimal shaped metal wall light, a quite large model designed by Floris Fiedeldij and produced for only a short time around 1960, by his company Artimeta ( Soest, Netherlands ). This light is documented in the 1960 Artimeta catalogue and in the ‘Goed Wonen’ magazine and is called ‘Ideaal’.

Very practical details; the chrome arm is able to twist and move in it’s joint. Black suspension part that can swivel left to right, and the shade can move as well. The practical features are quite comparable to the Anvia paperclip lights, but this light is definitely more exclusive and has a modest Sahara / Camel / beige color. Great dent free, damage free condition, minimal marks, all is checked and wire has been replaced through the whole fixture. Light source: one normal E 27 holder, suitable for modern LED bulbs. Comfortable switch integrated in the wire. Ready for instant use. This could be your perfect fifties desk or table light to complete your modernist interior.

After the second world war, Artimeta was one of the Dutch companies which became succesfull producing small metal furniture and lighting designs in a new, innovative European style. Besides the particular collaboration with Mathieu Matégot the origin for using slender shapes and wire structures for their designs can be found in the work of French and Italian designers.
