Constant Nieuwenhuys ( 1920-2005 ) was a famous Dutch artist, and founder, member of the progressive COBRA art movement of the 1940ies. In the early 1950ies he focused on furniture design for a short period and created a few designs for Dutch furniture company ’t Spectrum. In 1953 he designed these small sidetables called ‘ijhorst’. Both are identical and original early production. Top made of multilayered wood, welded metal wire frame.
Highly decorative and very symbolic for Dutch midcentury furniture design. Great restored condition.
