LARGE MIDCENTURY FLOOR LIGHT

Fantastic fifties dated floor light, highly possible French origin, looking at all the brass details, the typical ‘diabolo’ shade together with the optimistic color scheme black / yellow. Details such as the ball-socket joint and the striking V shaped metal base strongly reminds at designs of Robert Mathieu and Rene Jean Caillette, but no information has been found so far, though one design of Rene Jean Caillette showing much resemblance with it’s base.
The ball-socket mechanism in the base makes it possible to move the lights’ pole around, the big shade itself can also be adjust in all directions thanks to another brass joint near the shade. The light has two light sources inside the shade.
This heavy, complete metal floor light really stands out in evoking the mid-century atmosphere, and is a centre piece in your home, also for it’s height of 180 cm! Very nice vintage condition, elektra has been checked and replaced were needed ( the French bayonet bulb holders has been replaced for safe ( vintage ) ‘E 27’ screw bulb holders.
