Famous Dutch design icon, this black ‘Panama’ wall light designed by Wim Rietveld for the Dutch Gispen company in 1954.
The black and grey color scheme and the Panama-hat shade are typical hallmarks of modern fifties design. Sturdy articulated grey arm that can be adjust vertical at 3 points, and the arm can also move complete frome left to right. This one is very complete; it has the original red spanner, a complete wall suspension with back part and the rare original diffuser ( It is also possible to choose for a new, white replica plastic diffuser).

 

Very good condition, no dents or broken parts, this light can be used right away in your home or office. ( only some usermarks on the diffuser, picture )The lengt from wall is 140 cm when max extended. Wiring replaced through the whole fixture, new switch, and all electrical and moving parts have been checked. Light is suitable for build-in-wall or wire coming out.
When ordered, this light comes with an excellent packing job.

 

The Dutch Gispen furniture company was founded in 1916 by industrial designer Willem Hendrik Gispen (1890-1981) and mainly produced steel ( tubular ) furniture for home and office. Until the 1960ies of the 20th century the company worked with several famous Dutch designers such as Gerrit Rietveld, Wim Rietveld and Andre Cordemeyer.
