This great light was designed by Wim Rietveld for the Dutch Gispen company in 1954, together with the wall light and floor light of the same series. It is documented with picture in the Goed Wonen magazine of the fifties. The optimistic color scheme and the Panama-hat shade are typical hallmarks of modern fifties design. Mark the nice finishing details; the heavy duty construction of the adjustable arm and aluminium shade, and the solid metal heavy base. Very good condition with minor wear due to aging.
