Great set of two articulating complete metal wall lights, designed by Wim Rietveld for the Dutch Gispen company, 1954. This model is called the Panama. The sturdy crane-like adjustable grey metal arms and matt black shades are typical fifties hallmarks. Though the Gispen company made its first steps in the Bauhaus tradition, their fifties designs are clearly influenced by modernist furniture and lighting designs such as Prouve, Stilnovo. Designer Wim Rietveld can be mentioned in the same sentence as Dutch designers Cees Braakman and Hoogervorst.

Both lights restored condition and in perfect working order, new wiring through the whole lamp, new switch in the wall suspension, each light has a perfect replica diffuser. Optional key and wall plate: none. All electrical parts have been checked ( all suitable up to 240 volt, E27 bulbholders, also for modern LED bulbs ) Great opportunity to purchase as an identical pair, affordable shipping.
