Very rare minimal design floorlight by Dutch lighting company Hala ( Zeist ), 1950ies. The special construction of the metal shades brings both direct and diffuse light ( through the ‘sunbeam’ grooves of the shade ), and provides a refined atmosphere of light. Heavy metal tripod base and stand with attractive ‘industrial’ looking flexible part on top, which makes it possible to adjust the metal shade in all directions. This model is also known as the ‘large pinocchio’ because of the similar shaped base of the smaller table version by Hala. The asymmetrical position of the minimal looking metal base and pole is a typical fifties hallmark.
Because of their vulnerability this hala ‘sun series’ are hard to find nowadays, especially in a good condition. They were produced during the fifties and early sixties, and most of them have become damaged or broken during the years they’ve been used. This one is still in a good condition, normal traces consistent with age.
