During the 1950ies, Cees Braakman and his design team developed several lines of modern furniture for Dutch furniture company UMS Pastoe ( Utrecht ).
In 1958, he designed the nowadays sought-after ‘Japanese Series’.
All outside lines are clean and angular; there are no decorative elements and the wooden storage space has a floating appearance.
This DU-03 is the biggest and most attractive low board of that series. It has a quite rare but orignal Gerrit Rietveld style solid wood base, which is much more durable and steady than the metal base.
Great condition, minimal usermarks. All black handles are fine, and all doors and drawers working perfectly. There is a professional veneer restorage at a corner of the top ( see pictures ).
Very hard to find nowadays, don’t hesitate to get in contact.
