The Butterfly originally was an unlicenced design, but was produced by Knoll International, who acquired US production rights of the Hardoy chair in 1947, and produced the Butterfly till the 1970ies.
These chairs were produced in a lot of unlicenced bad copies, but this one stands out in quality; the suede is very thick, and the metal frame feels very solid as well. The frames can be taken apart very easily, and reassambling the parts also takes a few seconds, so also perfect for a vintage beach-sitting. The suede covers have some spots and small watermarks, but are in undamaged super strong condition, and they still are of very ‘heavy duty’ quality; and will last for another decade at least.
