Very rare and elegant set of four black sconces designed by Dutch designer J.J.M Hoogervorst for Anvia Lighting. This Dutch company created some of the most outstanding works of midcentury European lighting design. The design of these sconces clearly is influenced by post-war progressive Italian lighting companies such as Arredoluce, Stilnovo and Arteluce. Nevertheless, these truly can compete in quality and finishing details with many of their Italian examples; mark the striking details such as the brass material and the subtle, tiny holes in the shades.
Comparing to the later work of Anvia, the early Anvia products have a remarkable organic appearance, quite unusual for Dutch design back in the early fifties.
All lights are in very good condition, all complete with the wall suspension parts.
