Great opportunity if you are looking for a rare colored sewing stand from the Combex series by Pastoe. This piece has all the right Dutch midcentury hallmarks. It has 4 colors, bright yellow / red / grey and black. The structure is made of birch wood, the boxes are made of birch multiplex. The use of angular wood shapes and the modernist color scheme are clearly influenced by art movement ‘De Stijl’ and Gerrit Rietveld furniture and inspired many Dutch companies to create optimistic, functional furniture ( a.o. Tomado, Ahrend de Cirkel and Pilastro ).
In the early days of his career, Cees Braakman went to the US and was inspired by the modernist designs introduced by Herman Miller and Knoll.
