The forward-thinking of Braakman paved the way of success for the Dutch Pastoe furniture company. In his early career Braakman went to the US to study design and production processes. Clearly inspired by designs of Eames and Knoll, Braakman and Pastoe introduced the bent plywood techniques into their first line of modern furniture. This colorful DB51 ‘Combex’ cabinet is also clearly influenced by the European modernist work of a.o. Charlotte Perriand.
The Combex series were only produced for a short time, and most of them are in private collections now, which makes it hard to find nowadays. The typical bended legs, the great color scheme and the birch wood gives this small cabinet all the vintage details it needs. It offers a maximum of functionality too; behind the doors are compartments with shelves and drawers.
Good condition with some normal wear and discoloration consistent with age. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact for a shipping quote for your country.
