Braakman devoted much of his attention to the design of modern and elegant solutions for storage problems. Here a very attractive XL version low board from the sixties.
Nice combination of luxury rosewood / palissander and metal parts which makes this sideboard a bit less ‘fifties’ than for example the Japanese series of Pastoe. Like most Pastoe designs it is characterized by its lack of roundings; all lines are angular and there are hardly any decorative elements. The use of aluminium handles and the “floating” appearance of the body are hallmarks of the modern sixties style.
The earliest catalogue this series was mentioned in was 1964 ( ‘Goed Wonen’ ).
Hard to find these days, especially in this professionaly refinished condition; no watermarks or discoloration.
