Charming Dutch fifties design of clarity and balanced proportions, this teak and wenge mini sideboard by Propos Hulmefa.

During the fifties, the need to innovate is growing and many companies start to produce furniture with emphasised sleek, modernist Danish lines. This series by Propos Hulmefa was in particular strongly inspired by Cees Braakman Pastoe Japanese series. The solid, sturdy, wenge base is a typical Dutch Rietveld style hallmark.
This cabinet has one big compartment behind the door ( shelve can be taken out or adjustable in height ), and 4 drawers, all with anti dust wenge handles. This exact same model is pictured in the 1964 edition of ‘Goed Wonen’ as a part of an advertisment for home decoration.

Hard to find these days, especially in this good condition; no watermarks or discoloration, door and drawers are working fine. All has been cleaned and oiled, so original matt fninish and very fresh appearance. The modest size makes it a great addition to almost every type of space.
