Five hand-moulded tubular glass elements are hold by a sturdy, brass fixture. Each glass element hides two bulbholders and the opaque appearance of the glass diffuses the light source, which provides a warm light reflecting on the brass and the surroundings.
These fixtures were mainly produced in chrome plated material, but occasionally made in this ‘satined’ brass, which compliments the glass elements very well.
AV Mazzega was founded in 1946 by Gianni Bruno Mazzega. The company felt the changes which had taken place in the international artistic world and anticipated on the modern 1960ies market demands. During this period, Aldo Nason created several iconic lighting designs for the company, which have become quite rare nowadays.
Murano glass is made on the Venetian island of Murano, Italy, which has specialized in producing traditional hand-moulded vases, bowls and chandeliers. For centuries Murano is developing and refining technologies such as producing crystalline, multicolored, and enamelled glass. The glass elements of this chandelier have a spongy appearence, accomplished by adding air to the glass; the so-called ‘Polegoso’ technique.
This very light is originally constructed as a ceiling fixture, but can easily be rebuild to a floor light by making a few adjustments ( on request ).
Unique opportunity to purchase a very eye-catching centre piece for your mid-century home or working space. The light is in very good condition; no damages whatsoever to the glass. The brass has some spots consisting with age. Ofcourse a thoroughly packing service when shipped.
