Willy Van Der Meeren (1923–2002) was a Belgian furniture designer and architect. For several decades Van Der Meeren tried to communicate the principles of good design to the Belgian public. His aim to create affordable houses for the masses resulted in the 1950s ‘Ceca houses’ which were based on a modular system. He went on to become one of the most important Belgian Modernist designers after World War II.
His work has carefully balanced proportions and absence of decoration. In particular this asymmetrical model ‘T2’ table design with its metal hairpin legs evoke a very minimal 1950s atmosphere. The black and red colored solid metal frame compliments the color of the birch wood very well.
Hard to find with edition with a birch multiplex top, great opportunity. Great condition.
